We’re only a few weeks away from February 11, the official launch day of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 family of smartphones. Now, thanks to leaker Ishan Agarwal and 91Mobiles, we have seen official press renders of the three devices in the family, including the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
To be clear, these are not CAD-based renders. We’ve already seen those from reliable leaker @OnLeaks. Instead, these are official press renders created by Samsung that Agarwal has somehow obtained. In other words, these are likely the official and final designs for the Galaxy S20 family.
In addition to the renders, Agarwal also gave some new information related to specs and pricing of the new smartphones. Check out everything we learned below.
Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20 5G
Above, you can see the leaked press render for the 4G variant of the Samsung Galaxy S20. It looks very similar to the CAD-based leaks we’ve already seen, but the camera module is a bit different. You can clearly see the triple-lens setup, which will supposedly be a 12MP wide, a 64MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultra-wide paired with an LED flash.
The Galaxy S20 and its 5G-powered sibling should look the same on the outside, although internal specs could slightly differ. Pricing will be the main difference between them, with the 4G variant probably starting at €899 (~$993) and the 5G variant likely starting at €999 (~$1,103).
Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Plus 5G
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is naturally a bit bigger than the Galaxy S20. It also features a quad-lens camera system which will supposedly be a 12MP wide, a 64MP telephoto, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a ToF sensor.
The pricing for the Galaxy S20 Plus 5G is allegedly €1,099 (~$1,213). Although Agarwal and 91Mobiles don’t say this, that suggests that the 4G variant of the Galaxy S20 Plus could start at €999 (~$1,103).
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G
Although we’ve seen many leaks to suggest its existence, this is the first “official” leak we’ve seen that pretty much confirms that there will be a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. Unlike the other two devices, we don’t expect there to be a 4G variant of this mega-premium phone.
The star of the show here is the camera module on the back. The main sensor is allegedly a 108MP wide with a 48MP telephoto and a 12MP ultra-wide. Early leaks suggested there would also be a ToF sensor, but we don’t see one here. Instead, we see a periscope zoom system which Samsung is advertising right on the phone itself as 100x zoom. Granted, only a portion of that will be optical with the rest being digital, but that’s still a pretty amazing feat.
It’s a little hard to read in the render, but the camera module also has the words “Space Zoom,” which suggests Samsung will take on Google with some sort of astrophotography feature, a major aspect of the Pixel 4 series.
Obviously, all that camera power will be expensive. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G will allegedly start at €1,349 (~$1,490). If true, that would make it the most expensive starting price for any phone in the Galaxy S series.
